The
Work Of Redemption
When
Jesus went to the cross to pay the penalty of sin, He swallowed up the
effect of sin. As believers, all the things that came into the earth because
of sin should no longer weigh us down and hinder us.
Galatians 3: 13, 14- (amplified) Christ purchased our freedom [redeeming
us] from the curse of the law [and its condemnation] by [Himself] becoming
a curse for us, for as it is written [in the Scriptures], Cursed is everyone
who hangs on a tree (is crucified). To the end that through [their receiving]
Christ Jesus, the blessings [promised] to Abraham might come upon the
Gentiles, so that we through faith might [all] receive the promise of
the [Holy] Spirit.
Although we have been made joint heirs with Christ, and we have inherited
the blessings promised to Abraham, we are required to exercise faith to
walk in victory.
The effect of sin is still in the earth, but it is God's will for His
children to experience His provision for every need that may arise. Jesus
told us what God's will is for the earth.
Matthew 6:10- Your kingdom come. Your will (pleasure) be done on earth
as it is in heaven.
There is no sickness in heaven. There is no lack in heaven. Through faith,
God's will can be done on earth as it is in heaven.
3 John: 2- Beloved, I wish above all things that you may prosper and be
in health, even as your soul prospers.
As we grow in faith we can experience more of what Jesus made available
to us through His death and resurrection. As we abide in His Word and
His Word abides in us, answered prayer becomes a way of life.
John 15: 7- If you live in Me [abide virtually united to me] and My words
remain in you and continue to live in your hearts, ask whatever you will
and it shall be done for you.
Religion has, in many cases, watered down the powerful message of redemption.
It was true in Jesus' day and it is true today.
Mark 7:13- (Jesus) Thus you are nullifying and making void and of no effect
[the authority of] the Word of God through your tradition, which you [in
turn] hand on.
We must make the Word of God our final authority. Jesus is the Word of
God and when we honor God's (written) Word, we honor Jesus, and allow
Him to rule upon the throne of our heart.
